Sturgeon Bay Offshore Challenge 2011
Observer Information
Observer Information

The Observer Program is here to insure consistency in rule interpretation and keep the integrity of this tournament and other tournaments at its highest level.  Observers should have some experience of Salmon fishing and not be prone to sea sickness.  You must be 18 years old and act in a professional conduct when on a boat.  The boat that you are working for will pay you $50 per day for their Observer.  Below are the do’s and don’t and things to bring of being an Observer.

You must attend the Captains Meeting the night before the start of the tournament.  You will then meet the Captain that you will be working for.  At that point, you will learn the boat that you will be on the next day and the location of that boat.  It is suggested to locate that boat shortly after the Captains Meeting so you will be able to easily find it in the A.M.   At that point, confirm the time that the Captain wants you to arrive at the boat the next morning.  It is crucial that you are on time as the boat cannot leave the dock without you, the Observer.  (This is Very Important!!!!)

Other things of interest are:

Bring your lunch and beverages for the day.
Dress for the day – Sun, Rain, Wind or Cold, etc.
Wear white sole shoes as you need to respect the owner’s boat.
Do not assist crew, unless asked to do so.
Do not consume alcoholic beverages.
If you observe a rule infraction, make note the time that it occurred.
Do not discuss or debate the violation with the crew or the Captain.
Report violation to the Tournament Committee when you are back at the weigh in.
Do not leave the cooler of fish until weighed and weigh slip is signed!!!

NOTE: (Observers can only use cell phones for emergency issues or with permission of the captain)
